Ron Blasko, President, Tartan Companies

Ron Blasko graduated from Poland High School in 1978 and then obtained a BSBA degree from Youngstown State University in 1984. In 1987 he joined Professional Risk Management, Inc. (PRM). PRM was founded in 1981 and was one of the largest Third Party Administrators (TPA) in Northeast Ohio. At its biggest point, PRM and related companies had around 75 employees. During the mid 1990’s, Ron took over as President of PRM. PRM continued to grow and in 2008 PRM was sold to Meritain Health; which became part of AETNA Insurance Company.

Ron spent two years with Meritain Health before devoting 100% of his time to Tartan Insurance Agency, Inc. (TIA). TIA was one of the related companies to PRM. Currently Ron serves as the President of The Tartan Companies which includes Tartan Insurance Agency, Tartan Risk Solutions, and Tartan Benefit Services. All of the Tartan entities operate within the employee benefits industry and Tartan continues to grow. As of 2018, Tartan had over 2400 employers as clients via one or more of its entities.

Ron has over 30 years of experience in the employee benefits industry, with emphasis on partial self-funding of employer sponsored health insurance Plans. He has served as the President of The Self-Funded Institute of Ohio, which was a TPA trade association in Ohio. He also served on the Board of the Society of Professional Benefit Administrators (SPBA), which is a National TPA trade association. He has also served on Insurance Company Advisory Boards. Ron is also a licensed health and life insurance agent.

Ron and his wife, Traci; have been married since 1985. They have two children; Jake and Mandi. In 2017, Ron added a son-in-law to his family as Mandi and Nick were married in June, 2017. Ron and Traci currently live in the Lake Norman area in North Carolina. According to Ron, his #1 priority is his family, which he enjoys spending time with. Ron is also a devoted Pittsburgh Steeler, Penguin and Pirate fan.
